A Labour Of Love

Care Over Competition

Getting into horseback riding or vaulting doesn’t have to mean getting into an expensive, competitive, and often times exclusive sport.

At White Forest Farm, our lessons and programs are focused first and foremost on caring for the horses; enjoying the outdoors and being active, and emphasizing the importance of teamwork.

Originally started by Kate Wearring to fill a need she identified for affordable and accessible equestrian programming for kids, White Forest Farm now offers a variety of quality equestrian sports to students aged 5 to 17, including Vaulting, English Riding Lessons, and summer camps.

The White Forest Farm Team

Bronwyn Wearring

Head Coach and Program Director

Bronwyn has been horse crazy since the age of seven when her mom brought Ben into the family. Ben was a four year old Welsh x Quarter horse, and he was the catalyst to a lifelong love affair with all things horse, from hours in the barn grooming, cleaning, and reading stable management books, to attending Pony Club events and preparing for Rider Level testing, to riding in the ring and on trails, with or without tack—anything to spend time with horses.

She was lucky enough to have a mom who shared this passion, and created a riding program that fostered teamwork and centred on horse care and love of the horse, which was the greatest gift she could have ever given.

Today, Bronwyn is a passionate trainer and coach instilling the same values in her students at White Forest Farm. After having spent many years working for and learning from incredible riders, trainers, and horse people from all over the world, she had the great privilege of discovering both quadrille riding (think RCMP Musical Ride with cute ponies) and equestrian vaulting (a sport growing rapidly in popularity in Ontario). These ways of connecting with horses and sport have been the focus of White Forest Farm, as they align with our values of promoting and fostering teamwork amongst equestrians as well as with our horses, and facilitating accessibility to equestrian sport.

Laila Ceballos Jung

Vaulting Coach & Vaulting Horse Trainer

Laila originally came to the farm as a WWOOFer and now we get to keep her, along with her wonderful New Forest Pony, Nimbus.

Laila has 15 years of competitive vaulting experience in Germany prior to pursuing a career in social work. However, her heart has always been in the barn, and we are very excited to have her on our team as we build the only equestrian vaulting club in Renfrew County!

Kate Wearring

Farm Owner, Riding Coach, & Young Horse Trainer

Kate is the entire reason that White Forest Farm exists. Her incredible passion for horses from the time she was a child has been shared with countless others through her incredible herd.

Kate spent many years going to the barn early in the morning to put training rides on young ponies, only to return after her full day of work to teach riding lessons in the evenings. She would spend her ‘vacation’ from her full time job running summer camps that got kids outside, making new friends, and most of all, connecting with a passion for horses.

Now, she coaches less often, though no less passionately, and has turned her focus to sourcing and training exceptional young New Forest ponies, while also continuing to work full time as a physiotherapist.

Matt Wearring

Farm Owner & Property Maintenance

Matt didn’t quite know what he was getting into when Kate told him that she was buying Ben.

Ben was, in her words, “one medium-sized pony for me to get back into riding and for Bronwyn to learn how to ride.”

That was over twenty years ago, and the herd now consists of 18 horses. Matt is forever being asked for assistance with new projects, on top of his full time career of property maintenance on the farm. He cheerfully joins in and provides valuable knowledge and a voice of reason to fencing projects, trail clearing, jump building, automatic water bowl installation, along with maintenance and everything else that comes with life on a farm!

Matt started riding in 2011, and formed an incredible bond with Roka his ‘big pony’ who has since retired. He now rides Marble and Schrödinger, and has come a long way since his start over ten years ago.
